This content analysis of privately-owned photographs reveals that communism had a strong impact on the social lives of people living in Southern Albania. The study presents a unique perspective by utilizing photography as the main source of evidence. As Professor Andrea Liss mentions, photography plays a powerful role in capturing elements of social life that have deeper meanings, and this study reinforces her claim. The final sample of 850 photographs selected from Jorgo Vaso's archive revealed details about social life during communism by reflecting the emotions, feelings, and experiences of the people in Southern Albania from 1956-1980.
